One thing that excites me every year is dressing up for Halloween parties. There's just something very cool about Halloween, because besides the spookiness and scariness of the date itself, it's an opportunity to become someone completely different for a night and have fun assembling and creating a whole new look for yourself. This year my friend and makeup artist Valerie helped me transform into one of the most iconic characters from my favorite childhood movies, Edward Scissorhands. The most challenging part of becoming this peculiar guy, originally portrayed by Johnny Depp in the film that holds the same name as the character, was definitely the makeup. I have documented the process down below of the amazing work she has done.
First, she cleaned my face and applied a special gel to make sure that my pores were not irritated by the base makeup. Since Edward doesn't have any eyebrows, she applied glue to them to be able to put some color on top, and she created the scars with some strips made out of latex.
Then she applied a thin cover of white makeup base that made my whole face pale white. This was the first touch of color in my face, but I could already feel like I could go out and scare a couple of kids looking like this.
After becoming a white face, she added some extra details that could be seen in the picture we were using as inspiration. She added some darker shades on my eyes and around my nose and cheeks to make my face look a bit more skull-like. She also painted my lips black and helped me give the wig a messy look by styling it with hairspray. By this point I also put on the jacket, pants, and scissors, which I got from Amazon, and the transformation was almost finished!
Finally, we went outside and got this awesome shot of the whole costume. Pretty impressive right? What did you guys dress up for Halloween? That's it for today. On Thursday I'll be traveling to Detroit for a recruiting trip and I can't wait to share with you the pics from my trip. I also want to thank Valerie for the top-notch work she did for my costume, girl you nailed it 100%! And last but not least, thanks to you for reading! If you were expecting a fashion and style entry, don't worry, more is coming really soon so just keep posted. Till next time, happy Halloween everyone!
