Sweater Weather

If there's a piece of clothing I'm definitely in love with is any type of sweater. There's just something about the coziness of a knit sweater that no other article can provide, and they come in the most varied combinations of patterns, colors, and fabrics. Sweaters are also great options for the in-between seasons of spring and fall, since you can start your day feeling warm and protected and then by midday you can take it off when the sun is out.

Here I'm wearing one of my favorite sweaters. I love it because the pattern reminds me of the American tribes of the West, which focus a lot on symmetry and geometrical shapes in their artwork and paintings. The color palette is amazing as well, it kinda feels like a quilt or tapestry made wearable. It also has the reminiscence of Christmas which is a holiday I always wait for anxiously, and it's quite comfortable as well. The red chinos just help amp up the colors of the sweater in a very nice way, and a pair of rain boots and a wool hat with the UK flag complete the whole look. Do you guys like it? What's your favorite piece of clothing?

Today's post was a bit short, but I'm looking forward to sharing with you guys my Halloween outfit in the next post. Then I'm traveling by the end of next week, so I'll share some pics of the trip as soon as I can. Once again thanks for reading and feel free to write some comments below, let me know what you think of these outfits, or what do you want me to write about in future posts. And as always, remember to bring your best look forward each day. Till the next!

Topcoat

Hello again! So it's done, the warm weather is gone and fall has completely settled in. If you ever want to see beautiful fall foliage you should definitely come and see what the Pacific Northwest has waiting for you. This time of the year is utterly gorgeous up here in the Seattle area. Golden leaves decorate the trees in a very magical way. Even though it's all dark and cloudy the colors are so vibrant and inspiring. And not only the trees get to rock this whimsical, yellow disguise but the streets as well get a different look and feel with each fallen leaf that comes to the ground. It's like putting a wallpaper over the moist and cold pavement. Absolutely stunning.

With this amazing setting comes of course more fall attire, since I can really never get tired of cooler weather clothes. Like in this case, this belted trench coat from Topman just gave me chills the moment I saw it hanging in the store. It fits my body type so well, since I'm tall and sometimes I have problems with jackets or blazers being too short. It also has this old-school European feel which I love, and the pattern works well with almost anything underneath; a plain button-down with a sweater or cardigan will let the coat shine on its own. Since rain is becoming the norm as well, the boots complete the look and keep my feet from getting wet. Overall, I was greatly pleased with this combination. What's your take on this look? Do you guys like it as much as I do? Share your comments below and let me know what you think.

So that's it, this is the ensemble I wanted to share with you today. I've been receiving lots of feedback on Facebook and on the blog and I want to thank you all for doing that. It just encourages me to try and be a better writer and a better blogger, and really motivates me to put my best look forward every day. I also want to thank my roommate for taking most of my pictures, because without him the blog wouldn't be alive. You guys are awesome! Remember to be stylish and to be bold; let your voice be heard. Till next time!

Comfortable and Casual

Another week has gone by, and with this busy schedule of mine I hadn't even notice that we're in the middle of October already. October! Can you believe that?! Days can go by really quickly when you get caught up with work. There's little time for your mind to take a break every now and then; gosh, I haven't even come up with a Halloween costume yet! And as another month seems to come to an end, I begin to realize that the Holidays are also getting closer, and I can't wait to start thinking about vacations with my family; that doesn't make me any less busy nonetheless.

If there's something that really helps me to break out of the monotony of routine is figuring out what to wear to the office each day. As I had mentioned before, I work in the information technologies world, which is not quite known for being a super fashionable industry. It's an awesome experience though, to have to deal with challenging problems each day around how to make everyone's life easier by the means of technology. If you ask me, that's probably what I like the most about what I do: shaping the way people get stuff done and how they interact with each other. That leaves, however, very little space to fashion. It doesn't mean though people in IT don't have a personal style. For instance, with regards to the leaders of tech, could you have pictured Steve Jobs wearing something besides his trademark black turtleneck? Or imagine Bill Gates without his round glasses and a sweater vest? Or even think about Mark Zuckerberg not wearing one of his now iconic hoodies? Every person, techie or not, has his or her own unique style.

I can't define in one word my personal style for work, but if I had to identify it with two it would be comfortable and casual. Usually I like to wear button-downs paired with jeans or informal pants. It's incredible how you can really lift some nice-fitting jeans or pants with a dress shirt. In this case, I chose a plaid white-and-blue shirt with a very light sweater. I paired that up with a brown belt and brown shoes. Remember as a rule of thumb to match the color of your belt and shoes, or at least pick very similar tones. Finally, since it's been getting colder lately, I picked this gray jacket with leather patches that complements the look pretty well. So what do you guys think? What do you like to wear to work? Share your ideas below, and once again thanks for taking the time to check out my blog; it means so much to me. I hope you guys have a great week and remember to keep stylish! Till next Wednesday!

Rooftop and Blue Skies

Hi everyone! I can't believe it's been a month already since I started this blog. It's crazy how quickly time flies by, and I'm just glad that with your encouragement I've been able to continue with this project. I'm so grateful for your support and it means the world to me, thank you once again. So with a flip of a page October is here, and mostly people would say  "it's cold, it's rainy, it's cloudy". Well, not at all! This weekend the temps went up all the way to 70 degrees in Seattle and we had really nice, blue skies. It's great when we still get these last few glimpses of summer in the Pacific Northwest, and something that I like a lot is the clear view you can get from the city if you go up to a rooftop.

When I moved to my apartment that was one of the things that first got me, and it's still one of my favorite things about it. Being located in the heart of Capitol Hill, we get beautiful sightings of downtown Seattle, and there's no other building around to block the amazing view. Actually, my building is not even that high, it's just six stories high. However, it's favored by a great location since the complex sits on top of a hill. Given that the Emerald City has a very hilly landscape, you get to see the skyline from the skyscrapers rising tall downtown, a sight of Lake Washington and Lake Union both east and west of The Hill, respectively, and you can even see Mount Rainier in the distance.

On this cloudless day, I decided to rock this beautiful printed shirt that I found in Club Monaco on my last trip to NYC. Really guys, Club Monaco is the real deal when it comes to shirts and casual wear, and its one of my favorite shops. You'll definitely see more pieces coming from there very soon, so keep posted here for more about this awesome boutique. Also, I love NYC and I can never come back from the Big Apple without buying a ton of clothes.

I liked this shirt in particular because of how colorful it is. It contrasts really well with the clear blue skies we had that day, and I think it could go well with any plain-colored pants, like in this case these light brown chinos. What's your take on it? Yay or nay? Share some comments below and keep following on social media and on Instagram. I'd love to hear what you have to say about the combination. So that's it! One month of blogging is gone, hopefully with many, many more to come. Have a wonderful week, and see you next time!

Just Obey yourself

This week I had the pleasure of meeting with one of my favorite Bloggers out there, and someone that was a great inspiration for me to start doing this as well: the joyful and ultra-trendy Kimberly. She's a recruiter at the company that I work in, and she's a total rockstar! She's super passionate about the job she does, and like me, she shares a great obsession for style and fashion. Kimberly has been super busy lately, traveling all across the country to recruit the best and brightest, but we're looking forward to collaborating more often in the upcoming future. If you have a chance please check out her Blog, it's really awesome. Thanks Kim for these amazing pictures and for showing me your special location for taking photos, I freaking loved them!

For this entry, I want to touch base on another very important aspect of style, which is picking the right accessories. Accessories can really bring your attire to the next level. Whether it's a nice hat, weather appropriate gloves, chains or necklaces, rings, and what not, the key is to be simple and to don't overdo it. Today the centerpiece of my outfit was my Obey hat. I love text and graphics on clothing. I think these garments are really bold and I personally feel that they tell something by themselves. In some occasions, these can be a little bit difficult to combine with other elements, so whenever I wear text I try to use only one piece of clothing that has letters on it; it just keeps the balance in the overall look.

Let me tell you a story about how Obey started. Obey is a campaign that started in Rhode Island in 1989. It's founder, Shepard Fairey, was inspired by the Do It Yourself culture of punk rock and skateboarding, and initially it began as street art. Later on, he created the iconic Obey sticker, and a clothing brand that represented both his ideology and the spirit of self-empowerment. There's actually no meaning to the Obey trademark itself. It's intended to be just that, a word, and it's the people who wear it the ones that can give it meaning based on their own style and clothing.

In my opinion, Obey is about stepping out of what companies tell you to wear and just wear what you want. In a way, it's about just obeying yourself, if that makes any sense. I particularly love this hat, and for this post I decided to pair it with a plaid shirt, which can never go wrong during fall in the PNW, and my joggers. What do you think about this outfit? Is there any piece of clothing that you like because it says something about you? Let me know in the comments section below, and thanks for reading and commenting on social networks as well. Till next week!
