Every morning I perform very much the same routine: I wake up really early, then I leave my bed to feed my cat, and finally I open the balcony's door to take a brief grasp of the weather to decide what to wear. Yesterday I woke up like any other day. I fed Luke (my cat) and then I walked towards the balcony and felt a crisp, cool breeze which could only mean one thing: fall is here! My favorite season of the whole year has arrived just in time in the Pacific Northwest, and even though we had a great summer and I had a blast with all the sunshine and heat we got this year, I couldn't wait any longer for this to happen.
Fall is a time of transformation. As the year approaches its last stretch of weeks, autumn is the time when we revisit our New Year resolutions; we think back of everything we have already accomplished this year. We begin getting excited about the upcoming holidays. It's also the time when leaves start changing color, days are getting shorter, and at least in Seattle the rainy season begins.
However, without a doubt what makes fall so great to me is its fashion. These are the months when sweaters (which I love!) become the daily basis of most of my outfits. Did someone say sweater weather? It's also when more accessories start coming into play with each and everyone of them: wool hats, scarves, gloves, rain boots; there are just so many options and things you can put together for a great look! The color palette is also much more toned down and cooler than in summer. Blues, greens, and light browns are all really good alternatives for mostly any ensemble this season.
One thing that you should not miss in your autumn attire is a nice jacket. It's not yet that cold outside (especially during the day). Mornings can still get a bit chilly sometimes though, so light jackets are definitely your best friend this time of the year. If you live in a cool, damp city like me, then water-proof or hooded jackets are a must in this particular season. My new Penfield Gibson jacket is going to be my go-to jacket this fall. It's super light just to keep me warm enough in those chill mornings, and it's wax-covered so I won't get soaked in any rainstorm. I also love the navy color; it's easy to combine with other tones and it goes well with the mood of these days. Are you guys digging the jacket? What are you looking forward to the most this fall?
